If the storage tank has been filled for more than five years, it may be necessary
to inspect a cryogenic storage tank for any development of cold spots due to settlement
The initial issue that a client may encounter is to determine if there is a problem,
and, if so, the extent of that problem.
The presence of cold spots can be identified by thermal imaging. This will enable
identification of any problems in the early stages, before they become noticeable
on the outside.
If filling nozzles are present, it is possible to carry out a dip test, which will
give an indication of the levels of Perlite inside the tank. It is important to remember
however that this is not an accurate form of measurement, but will give a good indication
of the levels at various positions around the tank. The more positions tested, the
better the overall indications produced.
